View from Bergen County
Welcome to Skip's Painting. I began painting houses in 1982, while living in northwestern Connecticut. After moving back to my hometown of Rochelle Park, in 1998, I became a member of the Bergen County Mastercraftsman Paint and Paper Association, where I met some of the most experienced and knowledgeable painters in this area. My specialty is year-round interior painting and paper hanging, and small exterior jobs in the Spring and Fall. My basic schedule for working in someone's home is 9am-4pm, 5 days a week, which allows us both an easier transition into the work that needs to be done, and my estimates can be based on an hourly rate ($30.00), or by the job. There are a number of ways to reach me, but a phone call is probably the easiest. (201) 406-3933.
I am also an amateur artist, writer, and musician, and have published a number of nostalgic stories about growing up in New Jersey in the 50's and 60's. You can read these stories and see samples of my artwork at the sites listed below. Thanks. Skip Van Lenten
House Painting
There are two types of paint that I try to use exclusively on my jobs, Benjamin Moore, and Muralo. Muralo was one of the first to introduce acrylic formulas, which are a big improvement over latex, but Benjamin Moore has a wider range of colors, and has also come out with a complete line of acrylic wall and trim paints. If I have a choice, I like to use Benjamin Moore's Regal Satin in flat or matte finish for walls, and Muralo's Ultra semi-gloss for trimwork.

My estimates are free. If you have any questions about painting or paint products, call or text me, and I will try to answer them for you. If not, I can put you in touch with someone who can.

In Progress...
In my spare time, I enjoy doing portraits and other art projects. I have a small, web site at www.skipsprints.com where I post photos of my work, if you are interested. The painting above is incomplete, but I will update the photo when it is.
